Hero of Two Worlds: Exhibit Opening and Lecture by Chris Carosa


The exhibit, co-curated by the Office of Rochester & Monroe County History and the Rochester Chapter of the American Friends of Lafayette, explores the life of Revolutionary War hero and human rights champion Marquis de Lafayette while commemorating the bicentennial of his landmark Farewell Tour of 1824–1825. Following the reception, Chris Carosa will deliver his lecture, History Unleashed: Lafayette’s Western New York Tour and the Spirit of 1825 America, in which he will explore how Lafayette was received by communities in the greater Rochester area and the lasting impact of his visit on American identity. The talk will reflect on Lafayette’s legacy and how his travels reminded America of its revolutionary roots. Exhibit Opening: 4:30pm to 5:30 pm, Local History Gallery, Rundel Memorial Building, 2nd floor Lecture: 5:30pm to 6:45pm, Kusler-Cox Auditorium, Rundel Memorial Building, 3rd floor Christopher Carosa is an award-winning writer, author, speaker, financial analyst, and the deputy historian of Mendon, NY. He is the author of nine books, including his newest title, History Unleashed: Lafayette’s Remarkable Tour of Greater Western New York, and a stage play.
