Illuminare! Waiting in Hope
Jennifer Kerr Budziak, Guest Conductor
Heritage Chorale’s fall concert features Elaine Hagenberg’s sparkling Illuminare, a five-movement work leading the listener from a landscape of beauty and goodness, through darkness and chaos, and finally to a brighter and more peaceful future.
The performance of Illuminare will be framed by works spanning the fifteenth to the twenty-first centuries, including Gabriel Fauré’s beloved “Cantique de Jean Racine,” an excerpt from Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers, a re-imagining of a Thomas Tallis motet by Cree composer Andrew Balfour, and pieces by Ysaÿe Barnwell, Marques Garrett, Ola Gjeilo, and Eric Whitacre.
