Rodale Pleasant Park Community Garden is thrilled and honored to welcome renowned herbalist and educator, Peeka Trenkle, for a FREE class of hands-on herbal exploration and learning in the garden!
Come discover how both cultivated herbs and wild plants (yes - even weeds! can be used as food and medicine. Whether you're seeking natural ways to support your health, boost vitality, or deepen your connection with nature in an urban setting, this class offers practical tools and inspiring insights.
This is a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and explore the healing power of herbs—right in the heart of our community garden in the East Harlem community. Bring your curiosity, a friend, and a water bottle, and enjoy an inspiring day in nature.
All ages welcome! No prior experience necessary.
You are welcome to bring snacks or lunch. We will have water available but please bring your own reusable water bottle. A composting toilet is available on site.
Rodale is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am - 6:30 pm. With plenty of tables available, it's a great place to relax and spend the day. We're conveniently located near a large shopping area that includes Costco, a variety of restaurants, and numerous bodegas.
RAIN OR SHINE! Please dress appropriately for the weather.
FREE - At the conclusion of the event, attendees can take home small bags of compost and seeds while supplies last. Feel free to bring some seeds to swap.
About Peeka Trenkle:
Peeka Trenkle has forty years of experience as an intuitive healer, herbalist and homeopathic consultant. Since 1996 she taught Green Medicine - a 4-month
foundational course in herbal medicine - at the NY Open Center until the center closed in 2022. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theological
Seminary where her thesis addressed the theological importance of our connection with the earth - specifically in regards to healing. Her deep interest
lies in the integration of spiritual and physical healing and how our relationship with the natural world affects our well-being.
