Congregation Beth Emek invites all to their annual Shabbat Hanukkah celebration, a beautiful service filled with light, song, and the story of the Maccabees. This is one of the highlights of the year for the synagogue.
Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday that commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days. The lighting of the hanukkiyah (Hanukkah menorah) symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
Guests are welcome to bring their own hanukkiyah and candles to light before the service begins.
Congregation Beth Emek is the center for Jewish learning, prayer, and community in the Tri-Valley. For more information, call the synagogue at (925) 931-1055, or visit their website, www.bethemek.org.
