Registration is now open for September’s Hands-on History program at the Driftless Historium (100 S 2nd St, downtown Mount Horeb). “An Afternoon in Germany” will be held on Thursday, September 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m for grades K through 4.
Thousands of German immigrants have made Wisconsin their new home, including some of the first settlers of Horeb’s Corners. Suspenders (a.k.a lederhosen braces) and Bavarian brimmed hats will help students get into the German mood, as they learn more about the homeland of their Germanic ancestors, neighbors and friends. Participants will also be re-introduced to the famous fairy tales of German brothers Jacob and Wilhem Grimm, and learn some words, foods and customs that have come nearly integral to American life.

NEXT UP: “Our Big, Beautiful Wisconsin Family”, Thursday, October 8, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 pm. Students who attend our October Hands-On History session will learn why immigrants from across the world chose to make Mount Horeb their home.
