Grove Way Street Widening Project
All are welcome, but space may be limited. This is a follow-up from the Aug 5th Public Works Open House which many neighbors attended. Staff gave many vague and misleading responses. GWNA has done public info requests and reached out to experts. There is no doubt that the current plans are extremely devastating to what's good about the neighborhood. We must expect better from our skilled Public Works staff.
We'll have a chance to look at the different County versions, the developing GWNA version, learn bike path terminology, and break into groups to talk about street trees, utilities, parking, bus stops, deliveries, road project funding and requirements, next steps. Freshly popped popcorn provided by Cherry Grove Resilience for carbohydrate brain power! Arrive early or stay late to help with table & chair set up and/or tear down. County's plan
• widens Grove to 60-feet to build two bike lanes, two traffic lanes, and two parking lanes by "reclaiming" ALL right-of-way, cutting into yards landscaped by residents for 70 years, and removing ALL street trees and median plantings.
• fails to consider the new HARD trail, the bus stops, the former 238 lots, the hilly character, any utility improvements, public health, shade, beauty, benches, lighting, deliveries...
