Birmingham’s Greenwood Cemetery packs an extraordinary amount of history into a small space—more, perhaps, than any other neighborhood burial ground in Michigan. Join author, photographer, and architectural historian Dale A. Carlson for an exploration of the stories and lives preserved within its grounds. Among the notable figures buried here are Pewabic Pottery co-founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton; Cranbrook Educational Community founders George Gough and Ellen Scripps Booth; beloved sculptor Marshall Fredericks; “The Dickens of Detroit,” author Elmore Leonard; and American Revolutionary War soldier John Daniels, along with many others whose lives helped shape the region.
