Grandparents Day: Generations of Joy 2026
The Chatham Library Foundation and Chatham Library invites all members of the community to join us once again for a special celebration of grandparents, loved ones, and special friends. Explore different activity stations throughout the library, each designed to bring joy, connection, and creativity to all ages.
- Honoring Loved Ones: Help us celebrate beloved grandparents with a commemorative program.
- Photo Booth: Strike a pose in our photo booth with fun props!
- Make-A-Hug Station: Craft a hug that you can send to anyone special, whether near or far!
- Tech How-To Station: Learn how to FaceTime with loved ones far away, use Zoom to connect virtually, and discover how to follow and interact with your loved ones on social media.
- Wishing Well: Learn about giving back at our wishing well, where you can make a wish on behalf of an individual or organization.
- Storytime: Sit in for a storytime and listen to books that celebrate the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren. Plus enjoy a craft while you listen!
- Intergenerational Games Station: Stop by our games station for a variety of fun and engaging games that all ages can enjoy together!
- Genealogy Station: Explore your roots at our genealogy station, where kids can fill in their family tree and learn more about their heritage.
- Handprint Tree Mural: Come add your unique print and grow the tree on this interactive mural.
- Family Recipe Card Station: Immortalize your grandparents recipes and learn how to begin your own recipe card collection.
- Take a Pause & Puzzle Table: Too much going on? Sit and enjoy some puzzles in between activities.
- Button Making Booth: Are you a stylish grandparent or grandkid? Show it off with a specially made button!
Grandparents and grandkids are encouraged to visit together or independently. Join in the festivities with your family and friends! If your loved ones live elsewhere, stop by to make them a special gift! Craft kits will also be available; pick one up to bring to your family to enjoy together!
