Goodwin
Michael E. Goodwin began his music career in the 1990s, touring and recording with the Funk/R&B outfit Goodfoot. The band released two albums, “Spork City” and “Steps of Simone”, and were a regular feature on the Boston music scene (in fact, the band frequently appeared in the Backroom at the Burren and had the honor of initiating the stage in 1999). After Goodfoot disbanded, Michael pursued a career in education, but always kept his guitar by his side, or preferably and more often that not, in his lap. After years of playing gigs largely for the swallows and ducks by the river, Michael began playing live again in 2021. His performances range from solo sets to full bands, and often include interactive experiences for those who attend the shows. Whether strumming his telecaster and singing that he “has a forest of beech trees on his head,” or sitting deep in the pocket amongst drums, horns, and keys while emitting a smattering of low guttural utterances, he aims to create a sonorous landscape that envelops the listener. Michael is currently hard at work in the studio with his long-time accomplice and fellow Goodfoot member, Peter Maclean. The two will be releasing an album of material in early 2023.
