Global Wellness Day at the Irish American Heritage Museum

This global movement, taking place throughout the museum on Saturday June 14, 2025 from 3-8 PM, emphasizes the importance of meaningful human connections in enhancing overall well-being. Event Highlights: BETWEEN 3:00-6:00 PM: ● Live Traditional Irish/Folk Music performed by friends of IAHM. ● Irish Stepdancing/Ceili dancing demonstrations ● Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Information & Demos ● Button Accordion Workshop with All-Ireland Champion John Nolan ● Irish Musical Instrument demonstrations ● Irsh Language Primer led by Patrick Doyle ● Irish Wolfhound Information Session FROM 6:00-7:30 PM: In addition to these fun events, and to commemorate Albany’s Juneteenth Weekend Celebrations, IAHM is proud to screen as part of Global Wellness Day the movie Two Roads Diverged, which features Lynwood O. Sloan and the late Mick Maloney (Directed by Susan Wittenberg). Two Roads Diverged is a documentary about a shared journey between Black and Irish Americans. This movie explores how Irish people and African Americans in the United States found a commonality through music, song and dance. All of IAHM's Global Wellness Day 2025 activities are complimentary/free, and designed to foster a deeper sense of community, cultural appreciation, and personal wellness through the art of reconnection. Celebrated annually on the second Saturday of June, Global Wellness Day is an international social project dedicated to living well. The 2025 theme, #ReconnectMagenta, invites participants to rediscover the power of human connection—whether with nature, oneself, family, community, or personal health. In a world increasingly fragmented by digital distractions, the Irish American Heritage Museum’s event embodies the spirit of #ReconnectMagenta by blending cultural heritage with wellness-centered activities. Visitors are encouraged to unplug, engage, and celebrate the universal threads that connect us all. Founded in 2012 by Belgin Aksoy, Global Wellness Day is a not-for-profit movement that promotes living well and encourages people to focus on health, happiness, and connection. Celebrated in tens of thousands of locations worldwide, GWD aims to inspire individuals to embrace a lifestyle of wellness.
