As Content Booms Nationwide, Industry Experts Spotlight Audio Post Production as the Key to Standing Out at Atlanta Film Festival
ATLANTA — April 8, 2026 — In an era of unprecedented content saturation driven by streaming platforms and global production growth, industry leaders are turning their focus to one often-overlooked element that can make or break a project: sound.
On Wednesday, April 29 at 11:30 a.m. EDT, some of Georgia’s top audio post-production professionals will take the stage at the Tara Theatre’s Jack Auditorium for “Get the Most Out of Audio Post to Elevate Your Storytelling,” a Creative Conference panel designed to give filmmakers a competitive edge in an increasingly crowded marketplace.
As audiences consume more film and television than ever before, expectations for high-quality, immersive viewing experiences have surged. Industry experts say that while visuals often take center stage, it is sound design, mixing and audio storytelling that ultimately drive emotional impact and distinguish premium content from the rest.
Moderated by Elise Riley, CEO and founder of My Global Presence, the panel will explore how creators can strategically approach audio post-production, from timelines to creative execution, to maximize both quality and return on investment.
“We’re in a moment where more content is being produced than ever before, but not all of it connects,” said Riley. “What often separates projects that feel truly cinematic from those that don’t is the sound. This conversation is about helping creators understand how to use audio as a powerful storytelling and competitive tool.”
The panel features a lineup of seasoned professionals whose work spans decades of film, television and commercial production:
- Michael Cardillo, a re-recording mixer and supervising sound editor with more than 25 years of experience, is known for championing sound as a core storytelling element and for his advocacy in growing Georgia’s post-production industry.
- Chris Basta, founder of BOOM Post Audio and a 30-year veteran, whose multidisciplinary expertise includes sound supervision, mixing, Foley, ADR and composition across hundreds of projects.
- DeLaVanta Tabor, a re-recording mixer and supervising sound editor whose recent work includes CBS’s Beyond The Gates, and who is recognized for bridging creative and technical aspects of post-production sound.
- Greg Crawford, an industry veteran with more than 1,000 IMDb credits over a 47-year career, has worked on six of the top 20 highest-grossing films of all time.
The discussion will provide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the full audio post-production process, including how long it takes to complete a high-end sound package and how filmmakers can prioritize resources to achieve professional results.
The event comes as Georgia continues to rank among the top production hubs in the United States, with Atlanta playing a central role not only in filming but increasingly in post-production services.
For filmmakers navigating a rapidly evolving industry, the panel aims to deliver both practical insights and a broader understanding of how sound can elevate storytelling and audience engagement in today’s competitive landscape.
