Genealogy and Memoir: An Author Event with Elizabeth Winthrop Alsop at the Solomon Wright Library
The Solomon Wright Public Library is excited to welcome Elizabeth Winthrop Alsop back to Pownal on Friday, July 12th, from 6pm to 8pm. Alsop will talk about her latest book, Daughter of Spies: Wartime Secrets, Family Lies, in conversation with Joyce Held from the Pownal Historical Society. Alsop’s experience writing the book Counting on Grace, about mill worker Addie Card, sparked an interest in investigating her own family story. Her 2022 memoir was the culmination of that effort.
The event is free and open to all. Books will be for sale and light refreshments will be served.
This event is one of many that will be happening at the SWPL this July. Upcoming events for Summer Reading include a kid friendly snack demo by Chef Tom from Head Start on July 6th at 10:30am, Pownal History with Joyce Held on July 10th at 1pm for kids and adults, Whoo’s That program for kids from the Southern VT Natural History Museum on July 17th at 1:30pm, and a Town Block Party with Faith Church on July 19th from 6pm to 8pm.
