The two organizations are joining forces to renovate one of South Phoenix's community gardens, the Garden of Tomorrow. The Garden of Tomorrow was originally created in 2008, one year after TigerMountain Foundation's inception. The field had previously been vacant for decades, and the Foundation was able to turn it into a source of fresh fruits and veggies for the community. Over the course of the past 15 years, however, the garden has seen some wear and tear, and this project will help restore it!
Volunteers will replace old garden beds with new ones, clean up and revitalize the chicken coop and the duck pond, and prep, plant, and harvest the pollinator garden. They will also build a shade structure for the farm, which will provide solar energy for the water system that hydrates the plants as well as help to create a cooler, safer zone for those working in the garden.
With projects across the country, Block to Block is creating community gardens and farms, one block at a time.
