This June brings together five artists at our Kirkland gallery location whose diverse practices explore the intersections of memory, nature, identity, and abstraction through richly layered visual languages. From Heather Adamek’s vibrant compositions that balance bold color and expressive mark-making with moments of quiet contemplation, to Shannon Bodrogi’s mixed-media works that weave together paper lithography, monoprint, painting, and collage, each artist offers a unique perspective on the world around us. Their works invite viewers into spaces where emotion, experience, and the natural environment converge, revealing both personal narratives and universal connections.
Sherry Ying Ruden’s innovative use of traditional Chinese rice paper reflects her experiences navigating Eastern and Western cultures while embracing the concept of Zì-Rán (自然), the interconnectedness of all things. Sculptor Addy Sechler explores themes of selfhood, grief, magic, and restoration through expressive figurative ceramics that embody the evolving nature of human experience. Complementing these works is William Turner’s luminous painting, where references to landscape, figure, and form serve as a framework for dynamic explorations of color, movement, and painterly expression.
