FTW Productions Presents: "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

For the Whim Productions presents our fall play, *A Midsummer Night's Dream* by William Shakespeare! *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* is one of Shakespeare’s most popular and widely performed plays, as well as one of his most accessible works for audiences of all ages. Filled with romance, comedy, mistaken identities, and a healthy dose of magic, this classic comedy has delighted audiences for centuries. The story is set in Athens and consists of several interconnected subplots that revolve around the upcoming marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a complicated conflict among four young Athenian lovers whose affections don’t quite line up as planned. Another follows a group of six enthusiastic amateur actors rehearsing a play they hope to perform at the wedding. Before long, both groups find themselves wandering into a mysterious forest inhabited by mischievous fairies who manipulate the humans while dealing with their own domestic intrigue. With the fairy king and queen at odds, a magical love potion falling into the wrong hands, and the troublemaking Puck creating chaos wherever he goes, relationships are turned upside down and nothing is quite what it seems. Confusion, magic, mistaken identities, unexpected transformations, and hilarity ensue for all parties! Shakespeare’s beloved comedy explores the strange and unpredictable nature of love while reminding us that sometimes the most memorable journeys begin when everything goes wonderfully wrong.
