Loyola University Chicago is proud to announce that its upcoming concert, featuring pianist David Kalhous and violinist Benjamin Sung, has been selected as part of the Ear Taxi Festival Accent Concerts—one of the largest new music festivals in the United States.
The program will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, György Kurtág and Franz Schubert, alongside the world premiere of The Ci(r)cadian Tree by Dongryul Lee, commissioned by Sung and Kalhous. Inspired by the rare 2024 dual emergence of periodical cicadas in Illinois and the dazzling Northern Lights, Lee’s piece explores cycles of nature, life, and impermanence through vivid musical storytelling, through a Borgesian narrative.
Join us for an evening of lyricism, virtuosity, and new musical discoveries.
