Free@3 Presents: HSO Piano Trio

The Free@3 Concert Series at First Reformed Church invites the community to an afternoon of world-class chamber music on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM. The Holland Symphony Orchestra Piano Trio — pianist Allison Shinnick Keep, violinist Amanda Dykhouse, and cellist Lee Copenhaver — will take the stage for a program that spans the full emotional range of the piano trio repertoire. The concert opens with Beethoven's Piano Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1, nicknamed the "Ghost" for its hauntingly beautiful slow movement — one of the most thrilling and mysterious pieces Beethoven ever wrote. The program concludes with the Piano Trio in D Minor by Gabriel Fauré, a late-career masterwork that glows with warmth, elegance, and deeply felt lyricism. The performers are among the region's most accomplished and beloved musicians. Dr. Keep is a faculty member at Hope College whose performances have been heard at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall and venues across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Dykhouse serves as concertmaster of the Holland Symphony Orchestra and principal second violin of the West Michigan Symphony. Copenhaver, a longtime theory professor at GVSU, brings decades of musical insight to his work with both orchestras and chamber ensembles. Admission is free.
