The Washington Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (WMYO), founded in 1972, is a premier ensemble of students (9th-12th grade) focusing on musical excellence, led by Music Director Alberto Rodriguez. The younger Washington Metropolitan Concert Orchestra (WMCO) prepares its musicians (6th -9th grade) for lifelong musical enjoyment and dedication. Music Director Martin Garfield-Levine leads the WMCO bringing them awareness of different cultures and instrumentations.
Tonight's concert is the first of the school term by both WMYO and WMCO. The program offers a variety of music including composers: Hoffmeister, Seitz, Warlock and Dvořák.
