Hawaii Youth Symphony (HYS) invites the public to take in the beauty of classical music from talented student string quartets with a free community concert at Downtown Art Center, located in Chinatown’s historic Arts District, on Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. HYS will proudly present quartets from its summer music intensive, the Pacific Music Institute—an annual immersive experience for young musicians looking to take their skills to the next level. Mentored by Ignace "Iggy" Jang and a roster of 15 renowned artist faculty members, the string quartets are composed of students in grades 7-12 representing 23 public, private, and home schools across Hawaii, California, and Washington.
