Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund's 3rd Philly Cup Skate Competition


Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund announced the third annual Inner City Skateboard Series, also known as the Philly Cup to take place May through September. There will be one competition each month at a different skate park throughout the city, and people of all ages and all skills are encouraged to compete. These competitions help raise awareness and support for Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund.

All proceeds raised from the Philly Cup will go to maintaining and building new skateparks in Philadelphia and afterschool educational skateboarding programs. The cost to enter the contest will be $5 and this fee will include a free lunch and drinks for participants.

This week's contest will be held at:
·July 12, 2014 at McCreesh Playground: 6744 Regent St, Philadelphia, PA 19142

The remaining contests will be held at:
·August 16, 2014 at Whitehall Skatepark: Torresdale Ave and Wakeling St, Philadelphia PA 19124
·September 13, 2014 at Paine's Park: MLK Jr. Drive and Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130


Sign in will start at 11:00 a.m. and the contest will begin at noon.

There will be prizes for the winners of each age division in the local contests and on September 13, 2014 these winners will gather to compete against each other for a grand prize.

Franklin's Paine Skatepark Fund is a non-profit organization that was established in 2001. They are committed to strengthening communities and empowering the city's youth by advocating for skaters and skateboarding culture by educating youth and adults about the art of skateboarding and its benefits to neighborhoods and people. They have built free public skateparks all over Philadelphia that demonstrate innovative design, community engagement and multi-faceted use.
