"Fragility: The Land, The Sea, The People" - A Glass Art Show Opening on 8/17 at 2024 Polk St.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - On Saturday, August 17th, Orion Custom Framing on Polk Street in San Francisco will be presenting a new art installation, “Fragility: The Land, The Sea, The People” by glass mosaic artist, Anne C. Del Core. An Opening Reception will run from 4-7 p.m., with an artist talk at 5:30 p.m.
The installation will include a dozen framed pieces which depict conceptual landscapes, seascapes and people…all created with both large and small pieces of art glass and vintage glass with a variety of textures, opacity and reflective qualities.
“This collection is unlike most mosaics we’ve seen. It’s colorful, powerful, interesting…and makes us want to keep looking back at it. The pieces change with the light and reflect the surroundings. The artist shows great versatility and we have enjoyed her enthusiasm and creativity as we prepared this show.,” says Micah Ruiz, the owner of Orion Custom Framing.
“There’s lots to talk about with this installation. The concept of fragility associated with glass seems obvious, but glass can be incredibly strong. The idea is the same with the subject matter of the pieces. I hope the guests and viewers of the show will think about fragility, and use the art as a means to appreciate the world that we’re in.” says artist Anne Del Core.
Anne’s work has won two awards recently, an Award of Merit for “Solano Farm” in the Fine Arts Division of the 2024 California State Fair and a Curator’s Award for her mosaic mannequin, “Daisy Jane” from the PBS/KVIE Art Auction. Her work can be viewed on the website www.storyglassmosaics.com.
Orion Custom Framing opened its Polk Street location in San Francisco in June and has quickly embraced the local community with a bright and inviting space and easy, welcoming approach to working with customers to frame their art and treasures.
The Opening Reception will include small bites and beverages, with wine selections from Migliavacca Wines, one of the oldest wineries in Napa. Music will be provided by DJ Sosa. The event is open to the public and the art installation will remain and be refreshed over the next three months.
