Four Seasons in Lincolnwood

The Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra has been making great music for 35 years. On Sunday, September 14 at 3pm, the ensemble plays a free concert at Lincoln Hall Middle School. “Four Seasons in Lincolnwood” will feature violin soloist Desirée Ruhstrat performing the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla. Also on the program will be music of Villa Lobos, a new arrangement of Manuel Ponce’s “Romanza de Amor,” and light popular selections with a Latin feel. Desirée Ruhstrat returns as soloist with the LCO. Her last appearance was in 2000 performing Mozart’s Fourth Violin Concerto. At the age of 12 she made her solo debut with the Milwaukee Symphony under the baton of Lukas Foss, and has gone on to perform with orchestras throughout the world including the Berlin Radio Symphony and Radio Suisse Romande. In the summer of 2024, she performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival. Ms. Ruhstrat also has a distinguished career as chamber musician and is a member of the GRAMMY-nominated Lincoln Trio. She is currently on the violin faculty of Northwestern's Bienen School of Music. Conductor Philip Simmons is making a return as well, to his alma mater where he graduated 50 years ago. It will be his third time leading the orchestra in Lincoln Hall’s new auditorium, an acoustically excellent venue and focal point for the community. For the Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra’s 35th anniversary season programs are being given in celebration of Heritage Months. The September 14th concert will be dedicated to Hispanic culture. “Four Seasons in Lincolnwood” is organized by American Music Festivals, a nonprofit committed to cultural exchange and preserving orchestral heritage.
