Fontbonne, The Early College of Boston, Hosts “Celebrating Excellence” Gala
Fontbonne, The Early College of Boston will recognize distinguished alumnae who built successful careers in finance, law, and academia at its upcoming annual “Celebrating Excellence” gala. The gathering, to be held March 27 at Granite Links in Quincy, is a signature fundraising event for Fontbonne, a leading Catholic school for young women serving grades 7-12.
Continuing its tradition of uniting the Fontbonne community and regional supporters, “Celebrating Excellence” will champion remarkable alumnae, community partners, and the next generation of young women pursuing the school’s mission of academic excellence, leadership, and service. Fontbonne will honor three past graduates – retired Eaton Vance Vice President Maureen Gemma; Bay State Law Group’s Morjieta Derisier; and Dr. Kathleen Gershman, a retired professor and department chair at the University of North Dakota – with its Trailblazer, Leadership, and Community Impact Awards, respectively.
WCVB-TV sports reporter and producer Alexis Beckett will emcee this year’s gala. Before joining the award-winning SportsCenter 5 team, Beckett worked in Duluth, Minnesota, as a sports anchor and reporter. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
The funds raised at the gala will support the Fund for Fontbonne, which benefits students through academics, athletics, fine arts, and more. This also includes the school's Light of Life Fund, which provides financial assistance and equitable access to students throughout Greater Boston and the South Shore. Fontbonne provides more than $3 million in financial assistance each year. Currently, 81 percent of its student body receives support through scholarships, grants, or other forms of financial aid.
The event will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, and program honoring alumnae and community partners whose work reflects Fontbonne’s mission. Sponsorship packages are available for businesses and individual supporters who wish to play a meaningful role in empowering Fontbonne students. Opportunities range from presenting sponsors to community supporters, each offering unique recognition and engagement.
