The Fogartyville Songwriters Series is a new showcase opportunity to highlight some of the region’s best songwriting talent. Our first event in the series will be hosted by Carmela Pedicini, lead vocalist with the band Passerine. Joining her on stage will be songwriters Justin Kaiser and Kelly Goddard.
Carmela Pedicini, founder of the band Passerine, will be our host for the first event in the 2024 Songwriter Series.
Kelly Goddard is a singer and songwriter From Tallahassee, FL. As one-third of the band, The New 76ers, she has toured and played in venues and festivals all over Florida and the southeast. Her original songs span from eternal themes of love and loss, redemption, and forgiveness to existential themes like a warming climate and a woman’s right to choose. Kelly is learning new things and dipping her toes into new waters, playing solo a little more, but her highest hope remains to connect with others and spread joy and love through her music.
The second Monday of each month, musicians and music fans are invited to gather to hear a trio of songwriters in the round playing their craft and describing their songwriting experience. We love the songwriter round format because it facilitates a deeper connection between the individuals sharing the stage, and encourages storytelling and spontaneous collaboration.
The Fogartyville showcase will present three solo singer-songwriters performing four songs each.
Following the showcase, we will host an Open Round for musicians, inviting any singer-songwriters in the audience to submit their name for a chance to be picked at random to play a few songs. The Open Round is a good place for musicians to try out new material, meet other songwriters, practice performance skills and become a part of the local songwriting community. Feedback from the audience is welcomed. Anyone is eligible to play at the Open Round as long as your material is original. (This is an acoustic event, no pre-recorded tracks allowed).
The combination of curated and open rounds creates a wonderful musical evening, centered around and celebrating the craft of songwriting, guaranteeing a fantastic live listening experience, and also giving newcomers a chance to be seen, heard, and get involved.
