To celebrate “Read Across America Week,” which kicks off on Thursday, March 2nd, Fishers District, a mixed-used dining, retail, entertainment and residential development just outside Indianapolis in Fishers, Indiana (www.yardatfishersdistrict.com), invites the community to the grand opening of its brand-new “Little Free Library” to be permanently installed at the center. The welcoming ceremony for the mini library, located near the entrance of The Mark, will take place on Thursday, March 2nd, at 5 p.m. In the spirit of Read Across America Week, and to help foster a love for reading among area children, following the library’s opening, there will also be a children’s story reading, a face painter, balloon twister, library-themed giveaways, and free tote bags for the first 50 people to attend. A representative from the local Hamilton East Public Library will deliver the story reading to children next to the new Little Free Library (guests should bring their own blanket or chair). During the event, the center will also hold a book drive where the community can donate child-appropriate books (fiction and non-fiction for all ages) to fill the Little Free Library. The new mini library is part of the Little Free Library project, a program that envisions a Little Free Library in every community and a book for every reader. Each Little Free Library book-sharing box plays an important role in providing children with easy access to beloved books to encourage a lifelong love of reading. This event is free of charge and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. For more information, visit www.yardatfishersdistrict.com.
