Westport, Ct – Back for their third appearance at First Folk Sunday, The Flying Fingers Jug Band brings their wild and crazy musical antics to the Saugatuck Rowing Club, 521 Riverside Avenue in Westport, on Sunday August 3 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Accentuating the jug sound of the prohibition-era South in their take on acoustic Americana, the Flying Fingers Jug Band has established a unique, genre-defying sound that has consistently wowed a variety of audiences in the New York and Connecticut metropolitan area. Featuring an eclectic mix of musical implements including the washboard, string bass, jug, dobro, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, kazoo, mouth harp, and stove pipe to complement their gritty yet soulful appeal, FFJB’s diverse set fuses the energy of post-prohibition revelry, the vocal harmonies of bluegrass, and the authenticity of a juke joint making for a fantastic live experience.
The Flying Fingers Jug Band came together in 2015: a group of Hudson Valley friends with widely divergent backgrounds. They have appeared in some of New York’s coolest taverns, and in July 2017 made their national TV debut on the Food Network’s “The Kitchen.” Band members include multi-instrumentalists Dave Barron, Ron Rothenberg, John Spaw, Keith Olsen, and James Ballentine and Ian Moore on fiddle.
First Folk Sunday has grown to be a very popular Sunday afternoon musical and brunch/lunch combination. To view all the shows for the third season, visit the website at https://firstfolksunday.com. All shows are at the Saugatuck Rowing Club at 521 Riverside Avenue in Westport. Doors open at noon. For more information [email protected] or call 203-984-7562.
