Join us for the Science of Fermentation!
September 25th from 2-4 P.M. or 6-8 P.M.
Cost: $15 per person
Location: UF/IFAS Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Rd.
Class will be led by Lori Johnson, Family & Consumer Science Agent and Matt Smith, Commercial Crops and Food System Agent.
Learn the basics of fermentation, how to make sauerkraut, equipment needed, and food safety. Participants will take part in hands-on cooking, preparing their own sample of sauerkraut to take home. As a bonus participants will get a crash course in the bioscience of beer as we dive into the beer fermentation process and learn how yeast turns grain soup into sippable suds.
*No beer will be prepared or served at this class.
