Fall Plant Sale - Hays County Master Gardeners

Fall is coming and so is the HCMGA annual Fall Plant & Tree Sale! The sale will be online starting October 16 with online purchase pickup on October 23. The in-person sale is also October 23. Fall is the absolute best time to plant perennials, ground covers, vines, succulents and especially trees. The evenings are cool enough to allow their roots to establish and thrive, and the days are warm with enough sunshine to allow a bit of growth for storing carbohydrates without taking away energy from their all-important root systems. Most plants are brought to you by our Hays County Master Gardeners from their finest plantings and transplants from their home gardens. These will include Texas Superstars, native and adapted perennials, ornamental grasses, and succulents perfect for our Hill Country climate. Trees in five-gallon containers are from our nearby Texas native tree supplier so they are propagated and raised in the same environment as they will see on your property. The online sale link will be activated October 16 through October 23. Online purchases can be picked up at the in-person shopping location on Wednesday, October 23, 3PM – 6PM at Dripping Springs Farmers Market at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Drive. Find the online sale link and more information on our website at http://hayscountymastergardeners.org ● The plants in this sale are propagated by Hays County Master Gardeners and selected specifically for the environment in our area of Central Texas. ● The proceeds of this sale benefit continuing education programs and training classes in the Hay County community. ● The sale will feature Texas native and adapted plants and perennials including for xeriscape, butterfly and hummingbird gardens, ground covers, and other landscape plants, and native ornamental and shade trees. Texas Master Gardeners is a volunteer service program designed to bring the best horticultural practices throughout the state to County residents. To become a Texas Master Gardener, a trainee attends a minimum of 50 hours of instruction conducted through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, then shares this knowledge by donating 50 hours of volunteer service back to the community. Texas Master Gardeners’ assistance is found across the state — in school garden projects, horticultural therapy projects, community gardens and demonstration gardens by volunteers who also conduct gardening education and discussion programs and answer your gardening questions.
