Join the Rosemount Community Band and the Minnesota Symphonic Winds for a spectacular Fall Concert filled with inspiring music, exciting premieres and community spirit! The concert takes place Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road in Apple Valley. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
The concert begins with the Rosemount Community Band, directed by Dr. Cassie Bechard, featuring the world premiere of “Where Silence Echoes" by Australian composer Jodie Blackshaw. The piece was commissioned to honor the band’s founding director, John Zschunke, who led the ensemble from 2011 until his retirement in 2022. The program also includes John Williams’ sparkling “Sound the Bells!”, Jodie Blackshaw’s poetic “Letter From Sado”, David Holsinger’s heartfelt “Fantasy on a Gaelic Hymnsong”, and Pierre Leemans’ timeless “March of the Belgian Paratroopers”.
After intermission, the Minnesota Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. Timothy Mahr and Associate Conductor Paul Kile, take the stage. Their program features Ron Nelson’s lively “Savannah River Holiday”, Minnesota composer John Zdechlik’s beautiful “Lake Washington Suite”, and Katahj Copley’s energetic “Infinity”, which musically depicts shooting stars. The highlight of the set will be the American premiere of “Ecology of the Soul" by Jodie Blackshaw, an imaginative work inspired by the calls of Australian bell and whipbirds. The concert concludes with Dr. Mahr’s own uplifting new composition, “BurnBrightly”.
Come enjoy an afternoon of incredible live music celebrating creativity, community, and the joy of making music together!
