About the Exhibition
Travel the world looking through the camera of botanist Sherwin Carlquist. Organized by BRIT Library, this exhibition highlights Carlquist’s powerful observation of nature through his vivid field photographs and field notebooks, revealing Carlquist’s curiosity and observations that reshaped our understanding of the natural world. Enjoy this free exhibit weekdays between 10 AM and 4 PM (and on select weekends to coincide with programming) at the Madeline Samples Exhibit Hall at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.
Opening Reception: June 4, 2026, 6:30 - 8 PM
Join the U.S. National Science Foundation-funded Carlquist team and FWBG leadership for brief remarks about BRIT Library’s Sherwin Carlquist Collection and the Carlquist team’s efforts to connect this prolific American botanist’s field work archives to his herbarium specimens at California Botanic Garden. Light refreshments will be provided. Opening remarks at 7 PM.
