Del Valle Fine Arts continues its 45th season with Euclid Quartet on Saturday February 8 at 7:30 pm in the Bankhead Theater, Livermore.
We welcome back the Euclid Quartet which enjoys one of the most highly regarded reputations of any chamber ensemble of its generation. The multinational mix of violinists Jameson Cooper and Aviva Hakanoglu, violist Luis Enrique Vargas, and cellist Justin Goldsmith last appeared at the Bankhead in 2014. Celebrating their 27th season, Euclid Quartet has earned many notable awards (www.euclidquartet.com), most recently a top prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition. Since 2007, they have been the resident string quartet at Indiana University.
Their concert program will include Schubert’s much-loved “Death and the Maiden” quartet, works by Haydn and Mendelssohn, and a contemporary riff on Haydn’s quartet by Caroline Shaw, an award-winning American composer.
