Emergency Meal Distribution for Homestead Seniors During Hurricane Season

The City of Homestead is partnering with United Home Care to support residents aged 60 and older with emergency meal kits during the ongoing hurricane season. On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, eligible residents can receive three boxes of non-perishable meals at the William F. Dickinson Community Center, located at 1601 N Krome Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030. The meal kits are being provided courtesy of Florida Power & Light (FPL) and prepared by volunteers with United Home Care. This is a walk-in, first-come, first-served event while supplies last. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to care for and protect our older adult community members, who may face increased vulnerability during emergencies. Ensuring they have access to essential supplies before a storm is a critical step in preparedness. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), all residents should maintain at least 72 hours’ worth of emergency supplies, including food, water, and medications, in case first responders are unable to provide immediate assistance following a disaster.
