Educators' Tour of Wizard Ranch Nature Preserve
Are you a classroom or non-traditional educator on the hunt for a new place to take students for field trip experiences? Are you interested in how the Lancaster Conservancy conservation education team can provide a STEELS Environmental Literacy-aligned and/or MWEE (Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience) learning opportunity for grades five through high school? Designed around the York County River Hills landscape, this educators’ tour of the Wizard Ranch Nature Preserve will offer ways to engage students in hands on, data driven activities that explore the ways conservation actions help to improve ecological health of our York County Wildlands.
We are excited to be building out our York County conservation education program at Wizard Ranch and would love to include you and your students in the active restoration and stewardship of this beautiful grasslands, forest, stream, and wetlands. Learn from our team of conservation education staff and volunteers about the rich wildlife, native and non-native plant challenges, and exciting conservation efforts you and your students can be a part of!
What to Expect: You can take a two-mile hike on rolling terrain or get your hands dirty in field activities – your choice! Port-a-pots are available on stie. There are no indoor facilities. The grasslands are open and exposed.
What to Bring: Dress for the weather, though long pants and closed toed shoes that can get wet are highly encouraged. Insect repellant is recommended. Bring water and snacks.
Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.
Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
