For the last five decades, Ed Begley Jr. has been one of the most recognizable and beloved actors on the scene, with starring roles in St. Elsewhere, Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries, Better Call Saul, Young Sheldon, and hundreds of other TV shows, films, and theater productions. But Begley’s whole world isn’t just show business; he’s also an outspoken environmental advocate. His unwavering dedication to protecting the planet dates back to the 1970s and has been the subject of books, reality shows, and even repeated spoofs on The Simpsons. After driving cross country from LA (only the rare plane flight when absolutely necessary for this carbon conscious activist), Begley will come to Chicago Humanities to talk to his friend and Chicago-born actor, Bob Balaban, about Begley’s new memoir, To the Temple of Tranquility… and Step on it! Join these two icons of Hollywood for an honest and revealing conversation about the intersection of art and activism as this Emmy-nominated actor fights for a greener future for all.
A book signing will follow this program.
