Dylan's Do Over - A Special Trunk Or Treat
Chesterfield November 13, 2023 — We are excited to announce "Dylan's Do Over - A Special
Trunk Or Treat," a heartwarming event designed to offer families a second chance at enjoying
the Halloween spirit. This special event will take place on November 18th from 11:00 AM to
12:30 PM at the Salem Church Middle School in Chesterfield County.
Inspired by a personal experience, Dylan and his family have turned a challenging situation into
a remarkable opportunity for the community. After a hospital stay prevented Dylan from enjoying
Halloween with an epic costume one year, he and his family were determined to ensure that
other families, especially those with children with special needs or family members who were
unwell during the Halloween weekend, could have a "Do-Over."
The event aims to be an all-inclusive and accessible Trunk Or Treat, providing children of all
abilities and ages the opportunity to participate and have fun. Parents are encouraged to bring
their children to enjoy this second chance at Halloween in a safe and welcoming environment.
In addition to the Trunk Or Treat activities, "Dylan's Do Over" has a charitable aspect. Each
year, the event chooses a charity to sponsor, and this year, they have selected Better2Gether.
Better2Gether has been a strong support system in the community and for Dylan personally,
assisting children and families with medical complexities.
Community participation is essential to make this event a success. The organizers invite people
from the community to come and set up creatively decorated trunks, distributing both candy and
non-food items for the children to enjoy. With numerous items on clearance and an abundance
of leftover candy, it's an event that offers a delightful bonus.
Event organizer India Lipton says, "We want to create an event that's not only fun but also
all-inclusive, allowing kids of all abilities to join in the festivities. Whether they want to come in a
second costume or simply enjoy treats, we welcome everyone. We understand that not all kids
can dress up, and we want to ensure that this is a joyful experience, not a source of stress."
