Dulles Town Center, a super-regional mall located in the heart of Loudoun County, Virginia (www.shopdullestowncenter.com), invites the community to an event celebrating 78 years of India’s independence held Saturday, August 17th, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the upper level of the shopping center (near Regal Cinemas). Organized by Dulles Town Center tenant and non-profit shelter food program and open pantry Anna Sudha Community Kitchens, the event will showcase India’s rich heritage through the presentation of traditional music and food in a fun-filled festival-like atmosphere. Talented local musicians and performers will include Sangeeta Mathur-Simlote performing the event’s opening act and a DJ from online radio station Masala Beats sharing a medley of Indian Bollywood and patriotic songs. Other mesmerizing cultural performances will be delivered by Bharatha Mallika, the Nehas Bollywood Thumkas Dance Academy, the Thapasya - School of Dance, and the popular Varun Chitnis. The event, which is free to attend, will include displays of the different festivals celebrated across India; products including handlooms, artwork, jewelry, clothing, food; a special $10 kids corner with cupcake and cookie decorating, bracelet making, coloring pages, and board games all inspired by Indian cultural heritage; a beer and wine garden for those over 21; and dessert samplers ($15), a general menu ($25) and a VIP menu ($40) available for advance purchase at https://bit.ly/4fnEcJu.
