Drug Take Back Day: One Pill Can Change Everything

One pill. Just one is all it takes, in the hands of a child, to shatter a family's world. That's why the Palm Beach County Behavioral Health Coalition is joining forces with other agencies and urging Palm Beach County residents to clear out their medicine cabinets of unused, expired, and unwanted medications and participate in the annual Drug Take Back Day on October 25, 2025. The Take Back Day event is part of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) National Take Back Day, which provides the public with an opportunity to dispose of unused or no longer needed prescription medications safely. Other agencies involved in this initiative include: Palm Beach County, Palm Beach County Community Services, Village of Wellington, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Walgreens, City of Boynton Beach Police, Health Council of Southeast Florida, and other local organizations. Schneidrell Despeines, Project Manager, Palm Beach County Behavioral Health Coalition, says, "Our community partners are equally vested in reducing overdose deaths, and this is just one of many campaigns to dispose of medications safely, keeping it out of our water supply and landfills.” Palm Beach County has over 50 locations where medications can be safely disposed of throughout the year that can be found at pbcdrop.org. Free Deterra Medication Disposal Pouches are also available for at-home disposal. Naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal drug, is easily accessible. For more details, please contact the Palm Beach County Behavioral Health Coalition at [email protected]. There are two Take Back locations on October 25, 2025, located in Wellington and Boynton Beach, Florida. WELLINGTON Location: Walgreens Wellington Address: 10420 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington, 33414 Date: Saturday, October 25, 2025 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. BOYNTON BEACH Location: Walgreens Address: 1601 South Congress Ave., Boynton Beach.
