Drawing is the foundation of all visual art. It’s fun and portable, intuitive and expressive. And it forms the basis for larger-scale artworks including paintings, anatomical studies, architecture, caricature and cartooning, even sculpture.
This class is for everyone — from beginners who want to learn about basic drawing techniques, to experienced artists looking to refine their work. And it’s great for painters, especially watercolor artists who start their work with a drawing. You will learn about perspective, composition, light source, value and contrast — with an emphasis on fun.
We will do guided exercises, including small-scale studies and sketches, and then apply these lessons in extended sessions. You can use pencil, charcoal, ink — whatever you like. In the final meetings, students will focus on one or two drawings of their choice, developing them to completion.
Toaa will demonstrate and explain methods and techniques for the group, and everyone will also receive individual attention and guidance.
