Dover Quartet
Chamber Music Pittsburgh’s 2024–25 MainStage Live season concludes with a triumphant concert by “one of the greatest quartets of the last 100 years” (BBC Music Magazine). The critically acclaimed Dover Quartet presents an imaginative program that explores three unique perspectives on America: “Strum” by contemporary African American composer Jessie Montgomery, a new arrangement and commission by Chickasaw composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, and Antonin Dvořák’s seminal “American” quartet.
The concert includes the world premiere of a work by Tate that Chamber Music Pittsburgh commissioned for this performance, part of its commitment to support the artistic voices shaping the evolving future of chamber music. The Washington Post describes Tate as rare in “his ability to effectively infuse classical music with American Indian nationalism.”
