Deep Roots Dance Fest 2023
Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center will present the 2nd annual Deep Roots Dance Fest: A Reimagining of Dance from the African Diaspora on Saturday, November 11th at the Cabrillo Crocker Theater. Deep Roots is an evening of innovative contemporary dance rooted in traditional forms by established artists from Brazil, Congo, and Jamaica.
Deep Roots Dance Fest 2023 features N’Jelle Gage-Thorne presenting both a solo and a piece choreographed on the TWDCC Youth Companies ranging in ages from 6 to 18. The show will also feature TWDCC Diaspora Performance Project artist Vivien Bassouamina, as well as returning choreographer Gervais Tomadiatunga and musician Elie Mabanza. Deep Roots also features performances by Makaya (Tata Kaya) and Vera Passos. There will be a post-performance talk with the choreographers.
