Death Cafe
A Death Cafe is a facilitated conversation about death and dying with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session, and has no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action. Death is often treated as a taboo subject to talk about in modern society. Talking openly about death helps demystify it and break down our fears about this natural, inevitable transition. It helps us remember the sacred, not scary, event that death is. Death Cafe offers a safe and non-judgemental space for people to openly discuss something we all have in common (dying) over some sweet treats (in this case, coffee and donuts). This event is completely free, but folks do have the option to donate. I will be giving ALL donations to the Delaware Victims' Rights Task Force, a coalition of professionals working together to best serve victims of crime in Delaware. Folks can reserve their seat using the QR code on the flyer or by going directly to the event page. Reserving a seat is free but important for getting an accurate headcount to abide by the capacity limits of the library room.
