de Kooning Artwork at Nepenthe Gallery
Nepenthe Gallery is showcasing the abstract expressionist artist Willem de Kooning (1904-1997) and one of his artworks. De Kooning was commissioned to design public murals as part of FDR’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) program in the 1930s. The experience of working on this important project spurred him to pursue making art as a full-time career.
