Day of Dance
The greater Austin community is invited to move, groove, and celebrate at Day of Dance 2026, a free, all-ages, all-abilities community festival bringing the joy of dance to the heart of the city. This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.
Hosted by MINDPOP and Austin ISD Fine Arts, and supported in part by an Elevate Grant from Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment, Day of Dance is a citywide festival bringing together professional dance companies, youth performers, teaching artists, educators, families, and community members for a full day of free performances, dance classes, live music, and interactive activities. Whether attendees want to learn a new dance style, watch inspiring performances, connect with local dance organizations, or simply dance for the joy of it, Day of Dance offers something for everyone.
Festival highlights include:
- Performances by professional dance companies and talented youth groups
- Free dance classes for a variety of ages, abilities, and experience levels, including Jazz, Salsa, Cumbia, Swing, Contemporary, Classical Indian Dance, Creative Movement, Cardio Dance, Memphis Jookin, Musical Theatre, Improv Jam, Yoga, and Power for Parkinson’s
- A high-energy DJ Dance Party and a whimsical Bubble Dance Party
- A citywide flashmob!
Day of Dance provides a unique opportunity for dancers, families, educators, and community members to come together across generations, cultures, and dance traditions. The festival is designed to celebrate Austin’s vibrant dance community while creating welcoming pathways for people of all backgrounds to experience the power and joy of movement.
