DAWN to celebrate 25 years on October 13th
DENVILLE TWP. – DAWN Center for Independent Living, Inc. (DAWN), is celebrating 25 years of providing essential support and services to individuals living with disabilities and their families. To commemorate this milestone, the nonprofit agency is planning a complimentary 25th Anniversary Cocktail Party on Thursday, October 13, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Vasa Park, 1 Vasa Drive, Hackettstown.
The public is welcome to join in this celebration, which marks DAWN’s longtime commitment in serving its surrounding communities in Morris, Sussex, Warren and Somerset counties. The agency, located at 60 Ford Road, Suite 121, in Denville, provides quality comprehensive services and programs to enable those with disabilities to achieve their desired level of independence throughout their lifespan.
“Over the past 25 years, DAWN has grown, expanding its services based on the needs of the communities we serve, and supporting thousands of individuals each year,” says Carmela Slivinski, the agency’s Executive Director. “As a Center for Independent Living (CIL), DAWN practices the Independent Living philosophy which states that people with disabilities should have the same civil rights, choices and control as do those without disabilities.”
She goes on to say that since its inception in 1997, DAWN has continued to ensure that individuals with disabilities get the information they need in order to make informed choices and live their life as independently as possible in the community of their choosing with the support they require.
