David Lynch Foundation's National Night of Laughter and Song

The David Lynch Foundation (DLF), a global charitable organization that addresses the epidemic of trauma and toxic stress amongst at-risk populations, will host a “National Night of Laughter and Song,” a star-studded event featuring music and stand-up comedy to raise support for the Foundation’s mission of providing stress-reducing Transcendental Meditation to veterans with post-traumatic stress, inner-city youth, and women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Proceeds from the evening will be used to teach meditation to 10,000 at-risk youth and veterans in the greater Washington, DC area in partnership with veteran service organizations, public schools and after-school clubs, women’s centers, correctional institutions, homeless shelters, and THEARC (Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus).

Patricia Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, will be honored with the “Lifetime of Service to the Public Good Award.” Dr. George Rutherford, a 48-year D.C. public school educator and the principal of the Ideal Academy Public Charter School, will be honored with the “Lifetime of Service to Washington’s Youth Award.”
