Creative Arts Society Partners with Downtown Austin Alliance for Pop-Up Art Market in Vacant Space Austin, TX – The Creative Arts Society (CAS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit collective of Austin-based artists, is thrilled to announce its Downtown Pop-Up Art Market on November 9th and 10th during the Austin Studio Tour, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at 506 Congress Avenue. This vibrant two-day event will showcase artwork by fifteen local artists in a variety of mediums, including 3D ceramics, sculpture, oil, acrylic, watercolor paintings, and prints. With a range of price points, the Pop-Up is the perfect place to kick off your holiday shopping while supporting local artists. What makes this event truly unique is the partnership with the Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA). CAS is part of a new DAA program that activates vacant or under-utilized downtown spaces by hosting community events like this one. The 506 Congress Avenue space, generously sponsored by the DAA, is currently available for lease, and CAS is excited to breathe creative energy into the heart of downtown. However, due to a two-week vacate clause in the DAA’s contract (in the event a buyer surfaces for the space), CAS faced uncertainty at the time of the Big Medium’s Austin Studio Tour (AST) application. While we had hoped to be part of the AST, we could not afford the financial risk to our artists of losing their application fees. Although we won't be an official stop on the tour, we believe our unique partnership with the DAA presents a fresh and exciting opportunity for Austinites to explore art in a newly activated downtown space. “We are proud to be part of the Downtown Austin Alliance’s mission to revitalize and transform vacant spaces,” says a CAS spokesperson. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring local art to the heart of downtown, and although we’re not on the AST this year, our partnership with the DAA creates a truly special event for the community.” The Downtown Pop-Up Art Market will feature fifteen diverse artists, offering Austinites a chance to meet the makers behind each piece of art.
