This day holds a special place for Marriott. Founders J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott launched their 9-seat A&W Root Beer stand in Washington, D.C. to cool off from the summer heat. From there, the Marriott family expanded their business into what we know today as a leader in the hospitality industry. To honor their history and legacy, Marriott properties will host Root Beer Float socials during the month of August to benefit local member hospitals of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Marriott International has been a proud partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for over 40 years. In that time, they have raised over $165M for CMN Hospitals. Money raised from properties like ours goes towards everyday cost of care items used by our hospitals. Here are some examples:
$.37 – will buy one preemie diaper for neonates weighing less than 1.8 pounds.
$1.10 – will buy one baby blanket in the neonatal and infant critical care unit.
$6,500 – will buy one medical grade swinging light for a pediatric trauma room.
$12,000 – will allow one patient to participate in a therapeutic pediatric cancer clinical trial.
$44,000 – will pay for an Art Therapist for one year to help children cope.
$2.3M – will pay for one child’s bone marrow transplant.
