Common Ground: An Author Talk with Eileen Flanagan

Please join us for a presentation by Eileen Flanagan, a Quaker activist, facilitator, teacher and author of “Common Ground: How the Crisis of the Earth is Saving Us from Our Illusion of Separation.” The talk will encompass both her personal journey through direct-action experiences organizing against the huge companies most responsible for the climate crisis, as well as conversations with community leaders to understand how we can form coalitions to actually make a difference. Her book highlights the role of ordinary people coming together to strategically apply pressure to the powers that be. Acknowledging limited success in the current milieu, Flanagan posits that we must bridge the illusion of separation to form coalitions to bring about effective change. The presentation will be followed by Q&A and a community discussion, and books will be available for sale from Copper Dog Books. Registration is required - please register at tinyurl.com/Common-Ground-Talk. Eileen Flanagan is the award-winning author of four books, one of which was endorsed by the Dalai Lama. Her new book, “Common Ground” includes stories from her climate activism with Earth Quaker Action and interviews with frontline leaders across the United States and India. Known for training people in nonviolent strategies for change, Flanagan offers lessons, not only for those concerned about climate change, but for all those who want to work across our divisions for a better world.
