Comedy Day

1 Stage • 5 Hours • 40+ Comedians • A Million Laughs • FREE! Comedy Day in Robin Williams Meadow of Golden Gate Park is Sunday September 14, 2025 from Noon until 5 p.m. Comedy Day presents 40+ top comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. “Our audience has nothing to lose, and only laughs to gain,” says Debi Durst, Board President and Executive Producer of Comedy Day. “In fact, Comedy Day could save your life! Research studies have shown that laughter reduces pain and stress, eases autoimmune diseases, and improves the function of natural killer cells.” Founder Jose Simon’s dream of a free, open-air comedy celebration became a reality in 1981, and since that time, more than 1,000 of the world’s funniest comedians have performed gratis for more than a half-million people. In the past, Comedy Day has hosted many of the biggest names in standup, among them Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Garry Shandling, Ellen DeGeneres, Eddie Izzard, Dana Carvey, Bobcat Goldthwait, Paula Poundstone, Brian Copeland, W. Kamau Bell, George Wallace, Greg Proops, Dave Chappelle, Margaret Cho, Greg Behrendt, Dana Gould, Tom Kenney, Dave Attell, Arj Barker, Brian Regan, Kathleen Madigan, Jake Johannsen, Patton Oswalt, Ngaio Bealum, Janeane Garofalo, Marga Gomez, Bill Burr, Jello Biafra and Father Guido Sarducci. The complete lineup for this years’ show is still in the works, but the comedians booked to perform so far read like a Who’s Who of Bay Area comedy. More comedians will be announced in early September. Acts are subject to change. Comedy Day is rated PG-13. “We all need a good laugh...especially now,” says Debi Durst. “Our goal is to give the audience a break from the trials of daily life. Sure, there will be jokes about the state of the economy, dubious politicians, and upcoming elections, but finding something funny about these distressing times helps people release all their pent-up energy.” Comedy Day is an all volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has turned into a long-standing tradition in San Francisco.
