COME OUT AND PLAY! New Castle has a New Playground
The Old New Castle Outdoor Recreation Coalition announces the completion of Phase 1 of the new Battery Park playground. Neighbors. The official opening in October welcome young and young-at-heart and official representatives and dignitaries who cut the ribbon to signify the official opening of the first phase of the project. An invitation was extended to all residents and visitors to bring friends and neighbors to come out and play!
Phase 2 of this ambitious project is actively underway and, with the expertise of designers Kompan, will be to create a flagship, destination playground intentionally designed to meet the needs of all children, regardless of physical ability. As a city that frequently hosts tall ships, the second phase will appropriately include a tall ship structure with accessible ramps, bridges, and slides grounded in a safe rubberized surface.
